INTRODUCTION
A.
BACKGROUND
Language is one
of the simplest ways of personal communication. With a language we can know
each other. Any example language to be used by person in the world. But special
for English is the one of the International language in the world.
With English, we
can communication with any person in the world. Certainly the knowledge more we
can. Simple example, knowledge about culture, food and drink, and more other
states.
STAI Diponegoro is
one Islamic university that has a program for learning English. The name of
this program is Intensive English Program. We need 1 year to be intended ready
of it.
This program has
purposed to get oral examination and to have refreshing after we have been
studying. In this tour we can interview with many foreigners. So we can improve
and develop our English little by little.
B. VISITED
OBJECT
1. Syech Hamid
Syech Hamid is
one of the saints who spread Islam in Java. He had born in 1333 H in Sumber
Girang village, Lasem, Rembang, Middle of Java. He passed away December 25,
1985.
Kyai Hamid
raised in a family of Moslem. His father was a scholar (ulama). As a child he
was much loved as his father and grandfather. He was already signs that he
would be a great scholar.
He married in 22
year with his own cousin Nyai Hj. Nafisah and they were blessed 6 children. Now
living, namely H. Nu’man, Hj. Nasikh, and H. Idris. He has a particularly high
social nature of family and nearest neighbor. Concern for others is a hallmark of
strong social attitudes.
2. Sanur Beach
Sanur originates
from two words, “Saha” and “Nuhur” which literally means the passion to visit a
certain place. Located in the southern part of Bali. Sanur is pure sandy
beaches across the coastal line. It is also famed for its spectacular sunrises
which literally mark a new day in the life of the Balinese.
Sanur (Indonesia:
Pantai Sanur Pronunced Sah-Noor) is a coastal stretch of beach of Denpasar city
of south east Bali, about 30 minutes’ drive from Ngurah Rai International
Airport, which has grown into a little town in its own right.
The northern
part of Sanur beach was used as the landing site for the Dutch invasion troops
during the Dutch intervention in Bali (1906). During World War II, Sanur was
again the entry point through which the Japanese forces landed to occupy the
island of Bali.
Today Sanur
contains a number of resorts such as the Medina and Bali Hyatt (not to be
confused with the Grand Hyatt in Nusa Dua) and is a popular tourist
destination.
3. Dream Land
Dream land beach
at the southern and Pecatu Village, South Kuta, Badung Regency, Bali province,
Indonesia.
Dreamland Beach
is a tourist spot located in the south of Bali in an area called Pecatu.
Dreamland Beach is surrounded by towering cliffs high, and surrounded by fairly
large rocks around the coast. The location of this beach is located within the
complex Pecatu Graha Bali (Kuta Golf Links Resort) which is about 30 minutes
from Kuta Beach.
Dreamland beach itself
is almost similar to Kuta beach. White sand and steep gully scenery is so
enchanting eyes to look at. Location of clean white sandy beach just below the
narrow steep rock walls perfect for enjoying the sunset or simply watch the
surfer’s atrractions. Large waves were high and in great demand by the fans of
water sports surfing, Dreamland has become even a kind of new to the area surf
spots of Bali.
The origin of
the name of Dreamland in this area because the first time there a housing project
and tourist attraction. But the project is delayed and abandoned while the
villagers Pecatu who once lived as farmers hope the project is completed and
they could pursue other business in the field of tourism. That’s why the land
around the beach called Dreamland (dream land).
Originally the
courtyard of this beautiful beach is only a small point from the area of 900
hectares owned by PT. Bali Pecatu Graha (BHG) that could be busy in 1996. Land
area is transformed into a resort hired to super Luks “Pecatu Indah Resort”.
It is said that
the resort will be combined with the tourist area, while utilizing the natural
beauty and originality, as well as environmental preservation. The resort’s
owner, Tomy Soeharto, son of the former Presiden Soeharto, to create
“neighborhoods and most unique tours through Southeast Asia”. But as the
Indonesian monetary crisis and the crisis swept the credibility of leadership,
this mega project began to dim.
4. Garuda
Wisnu Kencana
Garuda Wisnu Kencana lies on the limestone plateau padas. Garuda
Wisnu Kencana Culture Park is a window of art and culture of Dewata Island that have a natural background and a very
impressive panorama. With the distance 15 minutes from Ngurah Rai International
Airport, making it one of the main objectives for the various performing arts,
exhibilitions and conferences or a relaxing visit even spiritual visit. This
statue is the work of Bali renowned sculptor, I Nyoman Nuarta.
Statue of the God Wisnu intangi bles that are the
gods in the Hindu religion by riding an Garuda keeper. Garuda Wisnu Kencana
Culture Park area is located at an
altitude of 146 m above ground level or 263 m above sea level.
This
statue is projected to bind to the spatial visibility to 20 km so it looks from
Kuta, Sanur, Nusa Dua, until Tanah Lot. It is a simbol of the mission rescuing
sorroundings and the world.
The
statue of Garuda Wisnu Kencana is
made
from a mixture of copper and steel weighing 4000tons with a high 75 m and width
60 m. If contruction finish can be the biggest statue in the world.
5. Kuta
Beach
Kuta Beach is
a tourist spot located in the south of Denpasar, the capital of Bali,
Indonesia. Kuta is located in Badung Regency. This area is a tourist
destination abroad, and has been a mainstay of Bali as a tourist attraction
since the early 70s. KutaBeach is often referred to as sunset beach (sunset
beach) as opposed to the Sanur beach.
In Kuta there are many shops, restaurants and
washing and drying themselves. Besides the beauty of its beach, Kuta beach also
offers various other types of entertainment such as bars and restaurants along
the beach to Legian beach. Rosovivo, Ocean Beach Club, Kamasutra, are some of
the most crowded clubs along the beach of Kuta.
This beach also has a pretty good waves for surfing
sports (surfing), especially for beginner surfers. Field I Gusti Ngurah Rai
Airport is located not far from Kuta.
6. Tampak
Siring Palace
Tampak Siring’s
name is taken from two Bali words, that is “Tampak is palm of hand (telapak),
and “Siring” is sideways (miring). Tampak Siring Palace stood on the initiative
of Indonesia’s first President Republic Indonesia, this Palace is the only
palace built in the reign.
Development
began in 1957 until 1960 and built in stages. The architect was R. M
Soedarsono. The building was first built is Wisma Merdeka and Wisma Yudhistira
in 1957. The next building in 1958 and finish in 1963.
7. Braja
Sandi
Bajra Sandhi Monument is monument of Balinese People
Struggle. This Monument is recognized by the name of Bajra Sandhi because it’s
from the world Bajra or Genta or bell used by all Hindu
Priest in reading off Weda holy sentence (mantra) at religious ceremony. This
monument is built in the year 1987 and it is opened by president of Megawati
Sukarno Putri on 14 June 2003. The purpose of this monument is to immortalize
the soul and spirit of Balinese People struggle, at one blow dig, looking
after, developing and also preserve the culture of Bali to be bequeathed to a
router generation as advancing capital stroke tread a world of loaded progressively
with the challenge and resistance.
This monument is comprising of 33 diorama depicting
the journey history from a period of prehistory (300.000 S.M) what its human
being still go about and very base on the nature until the period of filling
the independence (1950-1975) where Bali Island is built in all areas like
politics, economic, and social cultural. By knowing and comprehension of the
journey history, soul, and spirit of Bali People struggle from time to time, it
is expected the tighten of the spirit and cultural to increase Bali tourism.
The existence of physical building is strongly
relating to the meaning of Hinduism philosophy, namely Yoni colossus. The
monument is likely colossus device meanwhile the building base as yoni. From
other side, the Yoni colossus is also describing the story of twiddling
Mandhara Giri at Ksirarnawa shih is taken away from passage of Adi Parwa
(Hindu’s Book).
This building monument is consisted of:
a. Jar of
Amertha symbol by Kumba (a kind of pot) what is seen on the top monument.
b. The Dragon
Basuki tail exists near by Swamba and its head at entrance gate.
c. The body of
Bedewing Acura realized at its base of monument and the head at entrance gate.
d. Mount of
Mandara Giri realized by the high of monument boosting.
e. Pool
encircle the monument is supposing as Ksirarnawa (milk ocean).
Bajra Sandhi Monument in its
development, it has been opened for visitor and to be places of interest or
tourist destination in Bali in particular when visiting Denpasar town. You may
also join Denpasar City Toru or Denpasar Tour Package to visit this beautiful
place.
8. Tanah
Lot
Tanah Lot means “Land (sic: in the) Sea” in Balinese
language Located in Tabanan, about 20 km from Denpasar, the temple sits on a
large offshore rock which has been shaped continuously over the years by the
ocean tide.
Tanah Lot is claimed to be the work of the 15th
century priest Nirartha. During his travels along the south coast he saw the
rock-island’s beautiful setting and rested there. Some fishermen saw him, and
bought him gifts. Nirartha then spent the night on the little island. Later he
sake to the fishermen and told them to build a shrine on the rock for he felt
it to be a holy place to work ship the Balinese sea gods.
The Tanah Lot temple was built and has been a part
of Balinese mythology for centuries. The temple is one of seven sea temples
around the Balinese coast. Each of the sea temples were established within
eyesight of the next to from a chain along the south-western coast.
At the base of the rocky island, poisonous sea
snakes are believed to guard the temple from evil spirits and intruders. A
giant snake purportedly protects the temple, which was created from Nirata’s
scarf when he established the island.
In 1980 the temple’s rock face was starting to
crumble and the area around and inside the temple started to become dangerous.
The Japanese government then provided a loan to the Indonesia government of Rp.
800 billion (approximately USD $130 million) to conserve the historic temple and
other significant locations around Bali. As a result, over one third of Tanah
Lot’s “rock” is actually cunningly disguised artificial rock created during the
Japanese-funded and supervised renovation and stabilization program.
CHAPTER
II
REPORT
A.
TRAVEL ACTIVITY
On Thursday, 12th July 2012 (the first day of travel
activity)
We congregated
at STAI Diponegoro Tulungagung for waiting departure goes to Bali at 09.00 am.
And then at 09.45, am we gathered at STAI Diponegoro Tulungagung for opening ceremony
by Mr. Aulia, Mrs. Anjar, and Mrs. Luluk. And they were giving ID card by Mr.
Aulia and Mrs. Luluk.
We started to go
to the bus at 09.53 am, in front of Tulungagung public garden.
Bismillahirrohmarirrohim hopefully safed until to the effect and attained all
its aim with success. Amin.
The trip to Bali
through to Kediri. It’s really so hard. And then the bus stoped in Jombang at
12.05 am, because there were friends who wanted to go to bathroom.
12.40 am, we had
had lunch, but we just ate at bus with box rice. Reasonable, my food was through.
Hehe knowing that of situation I did not enjoy my breakfast.
We stopped in the
Mosque in Jombang at 01.00 pm, to perform jama’ ta’dim dzuhur and asyar prayer.
Over there was for about 40 minutes. And then we continued to Pasuruan to make
a devotional in sacred place Syech Hamid. We arrived to there at 03.35 pm. Our
bus stopped at before public garden Pasuruan, we went there that the place of
grave Syech Hamid by tour of tourism pedicap, we finished at 04.36 pm. And then
continued to Ketapang Harbour.
At 07.15 pm we
saw the tower that very high, this place named Java power. This place far-flug
and big. On luck we saw nocturnal, so this pace looked clear so beautiful.
There many lamp adorn this place, even appears at any given lamp fraught line
rust colored and white bright. Waowww this is place that so beautiful. But we
didn’t visit this place; just saw it from the bus. Several minutes we went to
Putra Jatim III Restaurant, Probolinggo having for dinner. And then jama’ ta’kir
magrib and isya’ prayer.
The moment that
the wait, we arrive to Ketapang Harbour at 10.59 pm. It’s very so cool. At the
same with my heart be afraid and trembling. Haaah…
On Friday, 13th July 2012 (The second day of travel activity)
After long time,
we arrived to Gilimanuk Harbour at 00.29 am. And then continued to Sanur Beach.
Then we did subuh prayer in Sanur area at 05.45 am in Al- Ikhsan Mosque. After
that we went to Sanur Beach to look at sunrise, but the sunrise was not looked
so beautiful, because the day was cloudy. However we could still take
picture. Furthermore we continued our
trip to hotel. To take a bath and have breakfast
The time was breakfast.
Our menu the days were egg steam, Tempe fries, Rawon soup, crackers and chili.
This food was nice, because I was hungry. Hehehe…. After having breakfast, we
were ready for initiating our visiting to go to tourism place in Bali.
At 09.35 am, we
started trip to go to the test place; the first place was Dreamland Beach. On
the trip, our guide gave us knowledge about Bali. About Bali’s history, name of
Bali’s people, culture and any statues. Its place that was the dream of Tommy
Soeharto, to build the increase economy for himself and Bali’s people. The trip
arrived to the Dreamland at 00.38 pm. There we looked any shopping complex, many
tourists who was to the sun bathing, and as surfing in beach. Some of my
friends practiced their English to some tourists. It was same with me, but my recording was not
good, its ok, I must be spirit for the next.
At 01.00 pm, we
went to GWK (Garuda Wisnu Kencana) place. But we could not use our almamater
and our identities as Student High School. Hihihi… so sweet. And then we did jama’ ta’dim dhuhur
and asyar prayer. After tour from GWK, we got lunch box together.
At 03.00 pm
trip to Kuta Beach. It was the moment to practicied English. There were many
tourists which did sun bathing while waiting sunset. I got tourist more for
interview. We had time until 06.00 pm for it. Then we went to Yamuna that was shopping
center and restaurant near Kuta Beach. We could buy clothes and dinner. I
bought some clothes for my children. At 08.00 pm, we came back to hotel to take
a bath and take a rest
On Saturday, 14th July 2012 (The third day of travel
activity)
I got up at
04.00 am. I took a bath and then did Subuh prayer. At 06.45 am, we had had breakfast.
Today’s menu was Pecel rice, hemm nyummy… but I don’t like chili because it was
so hot. Finishing preparing, then we all check out from hotel and ready to the
next tour at 07.35 am.
For the first we
went to Karang Kurnia. This was Shopping Centre bought from the trip special
for cloth, dress and accessories. And then, at 10.30 am we went to Tampak
Siring Palace. We arrived to there at 10.30 am.
At 00.05 pm we
went to Buah Tangan, the Shopping Centre special for Bali’s snack. And then we did
jama’ ta’dim duhur and asyar prayer and had had lunch to restaurant. But some
of my friends and I did not like the menu because the condition of restaurant was
very dirty.
At 02.42 pm, we
continued to Bajra Sandi. And then at 03.20 pm, we went to Tanah Lot that the
last place for us practicing English. We had time to sleep in the bus; it needed
one hour to arrive there.
The weather was cloudy
and drizzles. “Tanah Lot I am coming…. This is so cool”. We all took some
pictures. I was happy. Then at 06.02 pm, we continued our trip to Gilimanuk
Harbor. “God bye Bali. Much memories that I had with my friends and “my best
friend”. He hehe… and the someone give me a yellow flower, sweet memory..
hihihi”
At 10.10 pm
we arrived to Gilimanuk Harbor. It was hard to leave good memories. Hemmm.. One
hour we arrived to Ketapang Harbour. We came back to Java at 11.30 pm, then we
all had had dinner at restaurant in Banyuwangi and did jama’ ta’kir magrib and
isya’ prayer.
On
Sunday, 15th July 2012 (The fourth day of travel activity)
At 01.05 pm,
our bus stopped back to visited Putra Jatim shop Probolinggo to buy some foods
for our family at home. But I did not buy it because I had not enough money. I
just slept in the bus.
At 04.30 am, our
bus stopped in Pasuruan Mosque to shubuh prayer. Especial for me to take a
break in Gempol at 06.03 am, because my husband wait me there.. God bye Bali
and alhamdulilah I arrived safely. Thanks Allah.

CHAPTER III
A. CONCLUSION
The examination
tour of IEP (Intensive English Program) was done in Bali Island since Thursday
12th July 2012 until 14th July 2012.
All of students could
practice their English with foreigners or natives speaker, although they could
not speak very well. They enjoyed their activity because they could practice
their ability in English, they could meet native speaker, and they also can
spend their holyday. I myself, was very proud of this program because I could
learn English which very useful in my future so I could meet native speaker and
also I had opportunity to visit Bali Island, which one of my dream, because
Bali Island is very famous not only in Indonesia, but also in the world. And
every country has known it. Maybe without this program I cannot enjoy and
making beautiful memories in Bali Island.
B. SUGGESTION
IEP(Intensive
English Program) is one of program to learn English which the method like the
course, all of materials and the rules are taken from BEC (Basic English
Course) in Pare, and also the tutor of IEP (Intensive English Program) who
graduated from BEC (Basic English Course). In fact this program is good but
there are many problems, such as the agenda in campus, the examination, and
etc.
MEMORY
